About Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rohtas

  • KVK, Rohtas, Bikramganj was established in year 2004. It is located at Bikramganj, 40 Km from district headquarter Sasaram and 60 Km from Ara (Bhojpur) district. Bikramganj is a sub-divisional main town of Rohtas district. It is also well connected with railway and bus from state capital Patna. KVK, Rohtas, Bikramganj is 3 Km away from Bikramganj railway station and 0.5 km from bus stand. Longitude : 250 13' 23.85 N Latitude : 840 15' 59.17 E Krishi Vigyan Kendras (K.V.Ks) were established in various parts of country by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) as per the recommendations of Mohan Singh Mehta Committee during 1974 with an objective of technology dissemination to the farmer’s fields without any transmission loss. K.V.Ks provide solid platform in transfer of technology from laboratory to farmer's field with respect to Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Floriculture, Bee keeping, Mushroom Cultivation, Broiler Farming and allied subjects. The first KVK, on a pilot basis, was established in 1974 at Pondicherry under the administrative control of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. Presently 642 KVKs were established in 596 districts of various states.




Mandate of KVK

  • Conduct on farm testing/trials (OFTs), for assessing, refining and documenting agricultural technologies to develop location specific sustainable production system.

  • Conduct front line demonstration (FLDs) on cereals, oilseeds, pulses and, horticultural crops and for generating production data and feedback.

  • Organize vocational training in agricultural and allied sector for practicing farmers, farm women and rural youth with emphasis on learning by doing for self employment and income generation.

  • Organize training for in-service extension personnel for updating their knowledge status.
